‘Magic Man’ lives up to his name

Joao Moreira flew into town for just 4 rides in yesterday’s Super Saturday at Flemington.

With Craig Williams running late, Joao also picked up the ride on Magnette in Race 1.

Joao lived up to his nickname of ‘magic man’ ending the day with 2 wins, including on Brazen Beau in the much anticipated Newmarket Handicap. The slowly ran race time of 1:09:24 disappointed many fans who were cheering for the three main advertised runners of Lankan Ruppe, Chataqua and Terravista – some of the fastest and highest rating sprinters in the world.

Disappointingly, Lankan Rupee finished 6th – his only unplaced run in 14 starts since he was gelded. Tests will be taken to determine if there is anything behind the disappointing run.
